Social implementation of a collective of coevolution AI robots

01 Construction of coevolutionary empirical experiment platform

Center of Assistive Robotics and Rehabilitation for Longevity and Good Health
National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology
KATO Kenji, Managerweb site >
We will not only run robots in laboratories, but also trains them through demonstration experiments until they can be used in actual nursing care facilities. Meanwhile, we will accumulate data to evolve them.

02 Establishing Safety Criteria for AI Robots

Mechanical System Safety Research Group, National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, Japan
OKABE Kohei, Senior Researcherweb site >
We will create safety evaluation standards for robots. If there is an easy-to-understand “Precautions for use” for robots like the effects and side effects of medication, humans can use robots with confidence.

03 Systems Integration for AI Robots

Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering, Graduate School of Systems Design
Tokyo Metropolitan University
KUBOTA Naoyuki, Professorweb site >
We are aiming for the AI robot to be able to think, “In this case, let’s do this,” based on the knowledge accumulated by watching many interactions between humans and AI robots and understanding each situation.

04 Cooperation of AI-Robot Enablers (CARE)

Department of Robotics, Graduate School of Engineering
Tohoku University
Hirata Yasuhisa, Professorweb site >
Even if a single robot cannot do something, the robot can do it by cooperating with others. We will design the cooperation and coordination of multiple robots in order to support humans appropriately.
In order for robots to be accepted by humans and society, we will work on international standardization of the idea, “Robots should be like this” from the viewpoint of the perspective of ethics and law as well as the protection of personal information.
