専攻名が新しくなりました

Sendai, May 6th, 2016.

Since April, 2016, the Division of Mechanical Engineering decided to update the departments and courses, reformulating the imparted curriculum in order to create and prepare better professionals at Tohoku University. Our Laboratory, which was formerly in the Bioengineering and Robotics Department, became a member of the newly created “Department of Robotics”.

The department of robotics intends to develop “a wide range of technology to create future robotics, from human-friendly robots used in super aging society and self-controlled smart mechanical systems to intelligent spaces and smart society as extended concepts of robotics”.

The main fields of the research conducted by the newly created Robotics Department include:

• Coordinated control systems of multiple robots
• Self-controlled robots
• Smart welfare machines
• Sensors based on MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems)
• Sensor networks
• Nanorobots using DNA as a material.
